Gardeners.?

Are the leaves of a sweet Kumquat poisonus to animals especailly cats? are ANY fruit tree leaves poison to cat's?


I want to keep my fruit trees inside during winter, but have three cats

After an hour of searching I came across this site with the only list that includes Kumquat as a toxic tree. It's probably not deadly, but it would most likely make your kitty ill. Hope this helps.

Reply:Citrus leaves are chemically all about the same. We have a veritable orchard of citrus trees. We also have a veritable animal shelter in our back yard, and have never found any dead cats in our yard, so I suspect that if the leaves are poisonous, the cats are smart enough not to eat them.





If you're still worried, you could make a little fence of chicken wire to keep the cats off your trees. I suspect this will mostly be of use to keep them from pooping in the pots though.
